چکیده

Characteristics of the data being processed can be used to reduce the power consumption in the data path of a VLSI circuit by exploiting their relationship with transition activity during highlevel synthesis. Important relationships between fixed-point, two’s complement data characteristics and 0→1 transition activity in static CMOS circuits are presented in this paper. Models for computing transition activity in terms of a new set of transition parameters are developed. Propagation of data characteristics through multiplication and addition functional units is discussed. The use of the relationships and models to analyze and significantly reduce 0→1 transition activity with little computational effort is illustrated with examples.

Adaptive Response Induced by Pre-Exposure to 915 MHz Radiofrequency: A Possible Role for Antioxidant Enzyme Activity

Background: Over the past few years, the rapid use of high frequency electromagnetic fields like mobile phones has raised global concerns about the negative health effects of its use. Adaptive response is the ability of a cell or tissue to better resist stress damage by prior exposure to a lesser amount of stress. This study aimed to assess whether radiofrequency radiation can induce adaptive r...

Design and Synthesis of High Speed Low Power Signed Digit Adders

Signed digit (SD) number systems provide the possibility of constant-time addition, where inter-digit carry propagation is eliminated. Such carry-free addition is primarily a three-step process; adding the equally weighted SDs to form the primary sum digits, decomposing the latter to interim sum digits and transfer digits, which commonly belong to {–1, 0, 1}, and finally adding the tra...

A Constraint Logic Programming Based Approach to High-Level Synthesis for Low Power

This paper presents high-level synthesis problems and solutions specific for low power synthesis. It includes ideas of how to minimize the power consumption by switched capacitance reduction during operation scheduling and resource binding. This process uses switching activity data obtained from simulation of the design at the register transfer level. The novelty of this approach is the use of ...

A Low Temperature Hydrothermal Synthesis of ZnO Doped SnO2 Nanoparticles with High Photocatalytic Activity

The paper reports the preparation and photocatalytic activity of ZnO doped SnO2 nanoparticles. These nanoparticles were synthesized by hydrothermal method. The products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Their grain sizes are about 50-100 nm. The characterization results revealed that the synthesized nanoparticles possess just cr...

Low Power Bus Binding Based on Dynamic Bit Reordering

In this paper, the problem of reducing switching activity in on-chip buses at the stage of high-level synthesis is considered, and a high-level low power bus binding based on dynamic bit reordering is proposed. Whereas conventional methods use a fixed bit ordering between variables within a bus, the proposed method switches a bit ordering dynamically to obtain a switching activity reduction. As...
